Music teacher Beth Cruikshank founded the Winnipeg Girls’ Choir (WGC) in 1944. The choir operates as a non-profit organization, overseen by a parent-directed council. The parent-directed council is made up of parent/guardians/relatives of choristers. The WGC strives for excellence in the quality of musical education it offers and in the quality of its performances. The goal of the WGC is to provide its members with an opportunity for artistic and personal growth through choral music performance.
The WGC’s emphasis is on group singing. There will be some limited opportunities for solo work.
WGC performs a wide-ranging repertoire representing many musical styles -- from classical to folk, traditional and modern.
